POSITION: Deputy Underwriting Manager

Job Description

Quotations and Risk Acceptances:

  • Ensure quotations are done and dispatched within the agreed turnaround time
  • Accept all new agreed proposals which meets acceptable underwriting standards within the delegated authority
  • Underwriting Process and Procedures
  • Analyse and assess proposal forms and risk notes and confirm correctness within the acceptable underwriting standards
  • Ensure all incoming business are captured in the system accurately and monitor backlog status and observe timely month end closing (25th of every month).
  • Prepare /Issue policies and endorsements for all classes of insurance within the system at the agreed turnaround time
  • Respond to all correspondence within the agreed turnaround time
  • Ensure adherence to all the process, procedures and controls within the department.
  • Ensure Reinsurance allocations are done properly as per treaty on every business before capturing into the system
  • Conduct trainings on various covers to staffs, intermediaries etc.

Risk Management

  • Analyse and assess proposals and risk notes and recommend on the need to carry out surveys for small to medium size non-standard risks
  • Communicate to the client’s progress on the implementation of surveyor’s recommendations in improving the status of risks written
  • Resolve internal control audit recommendations fully and ensure no issue automatically escalates.
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of work done with ZERO error which may result in disputes with other departments.

Policy Renewals

  • Work on the allocated renewal scrutiny listing 2 months prior to expiry of policy and dispatch renewal notices to producers/clients1 month prior to renewal date
  • Follow up allocated policies falling due for renewal and provide weekly report to Underwriting manager to ensure achievement of monthly retention ratio of at least 90%
  • Establish unrenewed list by 1st Week on the following month and make counter follow ups
  • Filing – Comply with the agreed filing and record keeping system

POSITION: Business Development Officer 

Job Description

  • Follow up on quotations to close business and to get feedback
  • Daily servicing of clients to nurture the relationship between the company and our customers
  • Prospect New business, submit terms and close to meet set targets
  • Follow up on renewals to retain business
  • Conduct market intelligence to get information crucial for the development of the respective channels
  • Provide support services and training to agents
  • Premium collections as per the Cash & Carry law and the company’s credit policy
  • Ensures acceptable levels of business retention (i.e. preservation of existing business) are always maintained; and any existing business lost due to unavoidable circumstances is replaced by other suitable accounts (over and above the new business acquisition target for the year)
  • Closely monitors customer service satisfaction to ensure renewals are not threatened; negotiates renewal terms well in advance and sends formal renewal confirmations to clients before the renewal dates.

  • Cover note control â€“ to make sure all outgoing cover notes are properly used and returned for booking within 5 working days after being issued to clients.
  • Motor Certificates â€“ to ensure close management of certificates by ensuring full accounting of certificates before replenishing stocks

POSITION: Relationship Manager – Broking 

Job Description

  • To recruit new brokers as per the set targets
  • Design and implement a robust engagement plan with brokers
  • Put in place a weekly and monthly visitation plan that ensures that brokers are well serviced and that all issues arising out of their relationship with the company are attended to efficiently and effectively
  • Develop robust training and development programs for potential brokers that covers products, processes and our procedures
  • Develop and agree performance targets with brokers and assist the branch managers develop and agree on performance targets with brokers in their regions

  • Monitor closely market developments that have an impact on business transacted through brokers and share such intelligence with management from time to time
  • Prepare weekly and monthly business progress reports

  • Ensure 100% collection of premiums as per the Cash & Carry law and the company’s credit policy
